1. Who We Are: Chaos Meter is an independently operated website. The operator of playchaosmeter.com is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy and can be reached at contact@playchaosmeter.com.
2. Data We Collect: Chaos Meter does not require an account to play. Player names and scores are not saved on your device or sent to us; they exist only while you play. Your game progress stays only in your browser (local storage) and is never transmitted to us. The only personal data we receive is described in “Purchases & License Keys” below. We do not use cookies (see section 6). When you create a challenge link, the scenarios shown, the ratings you give, and the names you enter are encoded directly into the link itself; this data is never sent to or stored on our servers.
3. Purchases & License Keys: If you buy an optional card pack, your email address and a unique license key are stored on our server (hosted on Cloudflare) so we can verify your purchase and let you unlock your packs on any device by entering your key. We also keep that email address so that we can send you your key again if you lose it. Just write to us from the same address. Payments themselves are processed by Creem; we do not receive or store your card details.
4. Why We Process Your Data: We process purchase and license data because it is necessary to deliver the digital content you bought and to provide ongoing access to it (performance of a contract). To understand how the site is used, we count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not identify you. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site for this (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. How Long We Keep Your Data: Purchase records and license keys are kept for as long as your purchase remains valid, so that you can keep unlocking your packs on new devices and so that we can resend your key if you lose it. If you ask us to delete this data, we will do so as described in section 9. Cloudflare Web Analytics only gives us aggregate statistics (such as page views and countries) that do not identify you.
6. Cookies and Local Storage: We do not use cookies. The game uses your browser's local storage only for features you use: remembering your language, sound preference, which cards you have already played, your daily streak and the date you last played, which card packs you have unlocked and the license key you entered to unlock them, and your situation and penalty pack selections. This information stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is needed for the game to work, so it requires no consent. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
7. Third-Party Vendors: The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, which also runs our license server and our cookieless visit counter (Cloudflare Web Analytics). To deliver the site and protect it from abuse (for example, by limiting repeated license checks), Cloudflare briefly processes your IP address; we do not store it. Pack purchases are handled by Creem, the seller of the packs and our payment provider; its checkout script loads only when you interact with a Buy button (point at it, tap it, or select it), and anything you enter there is governed by Creem's own privacy policy. We do not show advertising and do not use any advertising or tracking services.
8. International Data Transfers: We use service providers such as Cloudflare and our payment provider Creem, which may store or process data on servers located outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. These providers rely on their own safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, for such transfers.
9. Your Privacy Rights: Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to receive a copy of it, or to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, including deletion of your email address and license record, simply email us at contact@playchaosmeter.com and we will handle your request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the one in the country where you live (in Türkiye, the Personal Data Protection Authority, KVKK). Please note that deleting your purchase record means we can no longer restore your card packs on a new device.
10. Legal Disclosure: We may disclose personal data where we are legally required to do so, for example, to comply with a court order or a lawful request from a government authority, or to protect our rights, safety, or property, or those of our users.
11. Security: We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold, and data is transmitted over encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Cookie Choices: Because we use no cookies and no tracking, there is no cookie banner and nothing to accept or decline. You can delete the game data stored on your device at any time: The “Reset Cards” button clears your card history, and clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything, including unlocked packs (you can restore those by re-entering your license key).
13. Children's Privacy: This site is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
